How to Remove Windows XP's Messenger

Open Explorer
Navigate to %SYSTEMROOT% \ INF folder.
For info The thing with the percentage signs is a variable.
For most %SYSTEMROOT% is C:\Windows.
For others, it may be E:\WinXP. Take it?
In the INF folder, open sysoc.inf (before that make BACKUP copy).
Look "msmsgs"
Near the end of the particular line with "msmsgs", you'll see the word "hide" is not so hidden.
Now Delete "hide" (so that the flanking commas are left sitting next to one another).
Save the file and close it.
Now, open the Add and Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel.
Click the Add / Remove Windows Components icon.
You should see "Windows Messenger" in that list.
Remove the checkmark from its box, and you should be set.
NOTE: there are other hidden system components in that sysoc.inf file, too. Remove "hide" and the subsequent programs at your own risk.

c. This click “CONTINUE”

3. Choose a template of your choice for the website and click continue

This template can be changed in a later stage or you can change it with your own ideas after setting up this website.
If every is done in the right manner then you have

If “yourrname4u” was address of your choice

Now to start posting into the website click START POSTING

You will be directed to a window show below

1. In the place of title enter the heading of the content your about to post
2. Below that in the content of the post. As you should have noticed there are all kinds of options for editing tools like bold,italics.
3. After that Preview of the post will be shown by clicking Preview
4. By clicking PUBLISH options the post will be publishing on your site.

Wilfing - A TrEnd

On April 10th 2007, newspapers and other media reported on what was described as a "new Internet phenomenon" known as "Wilfing", or "What Was I Looking For" also named after major wilfer Wilf Duggan. This is characterised by people erratically browsing the Internet, perhaps browsing for completely different topics than originally intended.

The newspapers were reporting on research done by the UK pollster Yougov, who surveyed 2,412 adults and reported that two thirds of British workers spend time "wilfing", often losing two working days a month to aimless browsing.

There also seems to be a gender disparity in the phenomenon, with men being more likely to "wilf" than women. The area in Britain with the highest percentage of "Wilfers" was Scotland, with 63% admitting to "being distracted some or all of the time when online for work or study reasons".

"It's important people do not allow unnecessary online distractions to get in the way when surfing the internet, as it can affect productivity in the workplace and relationships at home."

Useful Windows XP DOS Commands & Tricks

Typing DOS commands on the Windows Command Line prompt is a most efficient and faster way of doing things in Windows XP. Here's a run-down of the most useful DOS commands available in Windows XP. Some of these DOS commands even do not have an visual alternative.

DOS Command-line tools must be run at the prompt of the Cmd.exe command interpreter. To open Command Prompt, click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

ipconfig - Windows IP configuration
Useful for troubleshooting your internet connection. Displays the current IP address of your computer and the DNS server address. If you call your ISP for reporting a bad internet connection, he will probably ask you to run ipconfig.

fc - Free BeyondCompare in XP
FC is an advanced DOS Command that compares two files and displays the differences between them. Though the file comparison results are not as interactive as BeyondCompare or Altova DiffDog, fc is still very useful. You can even set fc to resynchronize the files after finding a mismatch.

type - open text files sans Notepad
Similar to Unix cat command, Type is my favorite DOS command for displaying the contents of a text files without modifying them. When used in combination with more switch, type splits the contents of lengthy text files into multiple pages. Avoid using the type command with binary files or you'll hear alien PC beeps and see some greek characters on your PC.

ping - Say hello to another computer
Ping network command followed by the web-address or IP address tells you about the health of the connection and whether the other party is responding to your handshake request. Ping tool can also be used to convert the web address to a physical IP address.

tree - visual directory structure
You often need to take prints of your physical directory structure but XP has no simple "visual" commands for printing directory contents. Here, try the Tree DOS command and redirect the output to a text file.

New Horizons

New Horizons is a robotic spacecraft mission conducted by NASA. It is expected to be the first spacecraft to fly by and study the dwarf planet Pluto and its moons, Charon, Nix and Hydra. NASA may also approve flybys of one or more other Kuiper Belt Objects. The craft was built primarily by Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). The mission's principal investigator is Dr. S. Alan Stern of the Southwest Research Institute. New Horizons was successfully launched on January 19, 2006. After a flyby of Jupiter on February 28th, 2007 at 5:43:40 UTC, New Horizons is expected to arrive at Pluto in July 2015 before leaving the Solar System.

The New Horizons spacecraft was launched directly into an Earth- and solar-escape trajectory. It had an Earth-relative velocity of about 16.21 km/s (36,260.7373 mph) just after its last engine shut down, making it the fastest spacecraft launch ever.

New Horizons is the first mission in NASA's New Frontiers mission category, larger and more expensive than Discovery missions but smaller than "flagship" programs.

Search engine

A search engine is an information retrieval system designed to help find information stored on a computer, such as on the World Wide Web, inside a corporate or proprietary network, or in a pc. The search engine allows one to ask for content meeting specific criteria (typically those containing a given word) and retrieves a list of items that match those criteria. This list is often sorted with respect to some measure of relevance of the results. Search engines use regularly updated indexes to operate quickly and efficiently.

Google

Around 2001, the Google search engine rose to prominence. Its success was based in part on the concept of link popularity and PageRank. The number of other websites and webpages that link to a given page is taken into consideration with PageRank, on the premise that good or desirable pages are linked to more than others. The PageRank of linking pages and the number of links on these pages contribute to the PageRank of the linked page. This makes it possible for Google to order its results by how many websites link to each found page. Google's minimalist user interface is very popular with users, and has since spawned a number of imitators.

Google and most other web engines utilize not only PageRank but more than 150 criteria to determine relevancy. The algorithm "remembers" where it has been and indexes the number of cross-links and relates these into groupings. PageRank is based on citation analysis that was developed in the 1950s by Eugene Garfield at the University of Pennsylvania. Google's founders cite Garfield's work in their original paper. In this way virtual communities of webpages are found. Teoma's search technology uses a communities approach in its ranking algorithm. NEC Research Institute has worked on similar technology. Web link analysis was first developed by Jon Kleinberg and his team while working on the CLEVER project at IBM's Almaden Research Center. Google is currently the most popular search engine.

Yahoo! Search

The two founders of Yahoo!, David Filo and Jerry Yang, Ph.D. candidates in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, started their guide in a campus trailer in February 1994 as a way to keep track of their personal interests on the Internet. Before long they were spending more time on their home-brewed lists of favourite links than on their doctoral dissertations. Eventually, Jerry and David's lists became too long and unwieldy, and they broke them out into categories. When the categories became too full, they developed subcategories ... and the core concept behind Yahoo! was born. In 2002, Yahoo! acquired Inktomi and in 2003, Yahoo! acquired Overture, which owned AlltheWeb and AltaVista. Despite owning its own search engine, Yahoo! initially kept using Google to provide its users with search results on its main website Yahoo.com. However, in 2004, Yahoo! launched its own search engine based on the combined technologies of its acquisitions and providing a service that gave pre-eminence to the Web search engine over the directory.
